Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: B, University of Michigan, language: English, abstract: This dissertation explores the development of global civil societies in China to study the relationship between China and USA. This dissertation is based on the premise that most of the global civil societies that operate in China are from USA. The activities of civil societies have influence on the foreign policies formulated by the two nations. This dissertation uses primary and secondary data collection methods. Case studies on global civil societies that operate in China have also been carried out to offer information on the operating environment and effects to the China -USA relationship. The nature of the study required the use of inductive approach to research as it is important to get the opinions of civil societies operating in China and government officials. The findings show great influence to the US-China relations from the global civil societies. The dissertation concludes that the relationship is partially dependent on the civil society's reports on human rights situation in China.
