Zulfikar Ghose is Professor of English at the University of Texas at Austin. He was born in Pakistan in 1935, grew up in British India and came to England in 1952. Finishing his education at Keele University, he worked as a cricket and hockey correspondent of the Observer for five years. In 1969 he left England for the USA and since then has lived in Austin. He has published nine novels, including the trilogy The Incredible Brazilian, a book of short stories (with B. S. Johnson), an autobiography, three volumes of poetry and a critical work, Hamlet, Prufrock and Language.
