At the same time, businesses and services began moving outside the downtown core. Shopping malls and motels converted Broadway Boulevard, once a residential street for Sedalia's elite, into a major highway. The silence of the railroad shops and the sounds of the Ozark Music Festival and Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival were other hallmarks of the era. Through more than 160 pictures, many previously unpublished, this book celebrates Sedalia's most memorable landmarks and pivotal events from 1950 to present.
