The fantasy novel The Kreydur Chronicles Book One: Pyrus begins when 16-year-old Jack is dumped by his girlfriend. Dismayed and upset, he gets into a fight with Fred, a bully and local gang leader, who teases him about the breakup. As a result, Jack gets suspended from school. To escape punishment from his parents, he goes to a movie with some friends. Afterward, Jack is cornered in a back alley and ends up getting shot by Fred. Jack does not die, but wakes up in a room filled with white. As he walks, the white becomes a giant fog. He emerges on a plain and enters the nearby forest. There he meets Kris, a man dressed in armour that looks like a combination of plate mail, chain mail and fur. Jack learns that he is now in Pyrus, a country of fire on the flat continent of Tereer. Thus begins this epic journey through a strange land, complete with battles and strange creatures. Enter the land of Pyrus at your own risk! Sean W.
