The first features an invented interlocutor, a spiritually blind, tradition-bound 'hermeneutical Jew,' while the second engages in depth with Jewish texts, beliefs, and practices drawing on the Christian Hebraist perception of the Jews as potential teachers of 'sacred philology.'
