Aprašymas

The story begins with Jack, in the summer of 2001. He is a small town reporter living in the West Country of the UK, preparing to take a new job in Canada, and finding in his belongings, a fossil he collected as a child. But the fossil contains the key to the whole story. It has in it's matrix, a piece of gold jewellery.

This find (called in pseudo-scientific circles as an Oopart – or Out of Place Artifact) leads Jack to investigate it's origin and history. His journalistic curiosity leads him to various conspiracy theorists, such as the Creationists, who he suspects are interested in ooparts as proof of a biblical Genesis.

He teams up with a beautiful conservator, Elizabeth, from the local museum, and they embark on a journey of discovery, uncovering strange occurrences connected to radar and death ray research during the Second World War (See Philadelphia Experiment/Nicolai Tesla). They follow a series of clues that Jack suspects is the mark of radical Creationists trying to disprove evolutionary science, but the search becomes serious when a witness to the Nazi research Jack is investigating is murdered. He has, however, a diary from the victim that explains some strange experiments that took place in 1945 and after.

Then, his partner, Elizabeth is kidnapped. She tries to escape in a time machine her kidnappers have, and by mistake is thrown back to the Jurassic era and is stranded.

Through a childhood contact with a shady arm of the British Government, Jack becomes involved with a group called the Time Initiative, formed to police activities of rogue Nazi German scientists still operating in the time continuum. These time travellers are plundering the present era and also are gathering ooparts as they appear to have a blocking effect on their activities, hence their attempts at recovering ooparts in museums across the world.

Jack manages to inveigle himself into joining a rescue effort. The expedition experiences a disaster in the form of a gas burst that nearly kill all them and the effort fails. What follows is a desperate attempt to once again brave the Jurassic Era and to defy the British Government in a last attempt at a time-travel rescue.
