Aprašymas

The Barnes & Noble Review
Sometimes, even vampires get lucky in love. They do in Lynn Viehl's engrossing Darkyn series, of which this is the fourth. Viehl's main couple here is immensely appealing, a study in tough and tender. There's Nicola or "Nick" Jefferson, an art thief toughened by life's curveballs, more at home on a motorcycle than in a gown; and Gabriel Seran, an ancient Darkyn, who has been blinded and sealed in a chapel beneath a ruined castle. His only connection to life has been to a woman (guess who?) in a dream. Nick has made a career of liberating captive vampires so they'll be grateful enough to help her find the Golden Madonna, the treasure she's seeking, but this time it's different. Against all odds, she finds Gabriel. Not only does she liberate him from the castle but also from the true curse of the Kyn, "to live beyond the desire for life."

A secondary plot involving Alexandra and Michael Cyprien (first encountered in If Angels Burn) comes into play in the finale. There's a closet thief, a blind vampire, rousing motorcycle chases, and a secret room full of Templar treasures -- plus the allure of vengeance. Viehl builds in plenty of plot twists in this intense love story. Ginger Curwen
