Mimi Griffin fulfills a lifelong dream of opening a spectacular restaurant on the luxurious Montecito coast. To find the perfect chef, she stages a dinner at the new restaurant; the winner will be the head chef at Mimi' with an option bankrolled by Mimi, for their own restaurant depending on their success.


Darkly handsome Emil Chandon is clearly the winner and Mimi presents him with a rare bottle of ancient Napoleonic Brandy and after a sample of the prize, he chokes and dies in agony.


Shaken, Mimi turns to Sergeant Manny Cru, the investigating officer in Emil’s death and he convinces her she’s the intended target and they must find the killer.


Even though it would be a perfect motive he is still behind bars along with his main accomplices, so another less obvious motive must be found.


Mimi eludes death again at the Santa Barbara Botanic Gardens and is now desperate to find the killer before they strike again.
