Eric Warberg went to Hollywood to make it big. For many years, he was successful--until suddenly he was virtually unemployable. So when an opportunity arises to return to his hometown of Memphis and direct a small independent film, he takes it.

Despite the fact that he's greeted like a star, his homecoming is bittersweet. From day one on the set of what is temporarily known as simply "Memphis Movie," Eric feels stuck and unable to find his creative spark. He is helped along by a large cast of characters, some from his past and some from the filmmaking industry--including his partner and paramour, Sandy, and Camel Jeremy Eros, an aging ex-hippie poet who's been hired to add some "Memphis Mojo" to the script.

As their stories intertwine, Eric is unsure whether he's about to find his soul or lose it, in a town where soul has many meanings . . .
