The ancient Norse Gods are alive, living in Kirkwall, and they play the Ba ...

Luci moves with her mother to Kirkwall - the capital city of the Orkney Islands, situated off the north-east coast of Scotland - a place which remains 'Viking' in character to this day.
Initially Luci hates her new life on a remote Scottish island; everything seems so different to what she is used to. However, she is befriended by Rodin, a stalwart of the annual Ba game (one of the last vestiges of medieval 'street football' played in the British Isles) and soon everything becomes increasingly wyrd.

Based on the Norse myth of Idunna and the golden apples, this novel places the old Norse Gods in a modern context whilst examining themes of domestic abuse from a teenage perspective.

Kirkwall is not what it seems at first ...
