The importance of the family Poaceae is well, known for mankind since long. Grasses of North-West part of Rajasthan are good source of nutritive content like protein, carbohydrates and minerals, hence these are the best source of food and fodder for livestock. Some grasses as well known for their rich medicinal value. Grass cover enhances the soil fertility and also helps in conservation of soils. The present work enumerates 149 spices belonging to 63 genera under the family poaceae. This book is an attempt to compile the available information related to morpho-taxonomy, economic and medicinal aspects of grasses. Although author have put their pain striking efforts to compile this work and to prepare easy keys for identification of grasses in the field and collection. It is hoped that the volume will be useful to the person working in the field of Taxonomy, Agriculture, Forestry and Ethnobotany.
