About the Author:
Richard S. Greeley has Ph.D. degrees in physical chemistry and nuclear engineering. He served in the Korean War as chief engineering officer aboard the destroyer USS Van Valkenburgh, DD-656. His activities at the Mitre Corporation included witnessing the U.S. thermonuclear weapons tests in 1962 and assisting in the operations of the "McNamara Wall," a system of high-tech sensors deployed from a base in Thailand during the Vietnam War in 1967. He shifted to non-military work in 1968, and has since has been actively involved in alternative energy projects including solar, wind, and tidal to solve the problem of global warming. He has published books of fiction and nonfiction on these experiences.
