Whereas climate is defined as the long-term prevalent weather conditions of area, determined by latitude, position relative to oceans or continents, altitude etc., Climatology is the study of Climates. Since the number of combinations of different climatic controls is very large, every location on the earth's surface has a distinctive climate.
