About the Author: Konrad Anton Aniol and his wife, Katherine, have four sons. He grew up in Chicago and earned a BS in physics from the University of Illinois, Chicago Circle Campus. He moved to Hamilton, Ontario, where he completed an MS thesis in nuclear physics at McMaster University. He then obtained a PhD in nuclear physics from Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. After serving in post doctoral and research scientist positions at the University of Washington in Seattle and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, he has been a physics professor at California State University, Los Angeles since 1984.
