Aprašymas
The story of 1940. Covering the Battle of France, the Dunquerque evacuation, the Battle of Britain and the London Blitz.
The book is largely centred around the forgotton airfield of RAF Gravesend in Kent and is a tribute to the fifteen pilots from 501 and 66(F) Squadrons who were killed flying from there during The Battle of Britain, but it also looks at the lead-up to WW2, the expansion of the RAF, the development of Radar, modern fighter aircraft. The book takes a look at life in Britain at that time too.
The rich narrative is laced with first-hand accounts from people who, with differing perspectives, lived through those momentous times. This is a book that will transport the reader back in time. Back to a time when Britain stood alone; when nothing else was standing in the way of Hitler's intentions of total European domination.
